(MRC) - Having completely skipped the Church fighting for religious liberty, ABC and NBC seemed to delight in reporting every salacious detail of the Vatican leaks. On Tuesday's NBC Today, correspondent Michelle Kosinski touted a nickname in Rome for the incident: "Here they're calling it 'Vatileaks.'" During a report on Sunday's Today, correspondent Duncan Golestani remarked that the whole affair was "like something from a Hollywood movie," followed by a clip of the conspiratorial anti-Catholic film Angels & Demons...THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: I'll go ahead and say what others are afraid to. ABC and NBC are anti-Catholic bigots! Yes, I said it, I mean it, and I don't say it lightly. Their activities are the textbook definition of bigotry. They have wilfully ignored the one story that makes the Church look good -- fighting for religous liberty in America -- which also happens to be one of the biggest stories in the 21st century, and in exchange overly reported every story they can find to embarrass the Church or make it look bad.

It's really very simple actually. The Vatileaks story is not that big of a story at all. It doesn't threaten the papacy. The Vatican is not falling to pieces. No, there is no chaos inside the walls of the city-state. This is a simple police investigation to find out who has been leaking sensitive documents. We have the pope's butler, who allegedly was a mole, and now the latest is three more suspects are under scrutiny. The whole thing seems to centre around Cardinal Bertone, not the pope, and it would appear that Cardinal Bertone was the intended target of scandal by the Vatileakers, namely because they didn't like his management style. That's pretty much it, as far as we know, and that is literally a summary of ALL the information we know so far. For the press to report this as some kind of "crisis" is itself a scandal, not of the Vatican, but of the press.
I'm afraid ABC and NBC are the epitome of the anti-Catholic problem in the American press. Some are worse than others, and as it stands now, ABC and NBC are the worst of all. Now there are two kinds of anti-Catholic bigotry in the United States, and these I will describe as "traditional" and "modernist."
Traditional anti-Catholicism is what we know from history and it's usually based in Protestant prejudices. These usually circle around ridiculous accusations such as the pope being the Antichrist, Catholics worshipping Mary, and the Church secretly plotting to undermine the Gospel of Jesus Christ through a system of earned salvation and simultaneously take over the world.
Modernist anti-Catholicism is based more in modern liberal (post-enlightenment) thought. The idea is that the Catholic religion is archaic and backward. Therefore the only good Catholic is a bad Catholic, meaning a person who may still identify as Catholic, but doesn't really practice the moral and social teachings of the Church in any meaningful way. A perfect example of this is former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who would serve as the little darling of modernist anti-Catholics. The former Speaker identifies herself as a "practising ardent Catholic." However, she believes abortion is a right, gays should get married, and the Church should sit back and shut up! This is the perfect example of what modernist anti-Catholics want and expect. People who actually believe in the Church's teaching, try to follow it, and advocate for it, are considered archaic, backward and possibly dangerous! Thus, the only good Catholic is a bad Catholic. It is this very mindset that permeates the entire American news media, but would appear to be most recently concentrated in ABC and NBC. Their network coverage of the Church in recent weeks is demonstratively unfair and biased. They know it. We know it. They know we know it, and they obviously don't care.
Anti-Catholcism has a long history in the American press, as the above cartoon shows. It's something U.S. Catholics ought to be getting used to by now. It's been going on for about 150 years or so. The motivations have changed, but the results have not. ABC and NBC now join the ranks of Harper's Weekly as the most anti-Catholic media outlets in the United States. Bravo! Good job! It's such a distinguished club.

I wonder when the MSM will start reporting on the SSPX-Vatican relations… I guess it isn't as "sound-bite-able" as butlers and leaks.
Rest assured, when the reconciliation finally happens, ABC and NBC will do everything within their power to make it look as bad as possible.
The whole ground has shifted, where black in now considered white and white is now considered black. In Ontario, the premier of that province wishes to force the legitimization of homosexuality on Catholic schools through gay-straight anti-bullying clubs. It is said that Catholic schools must be in line with society's values or lose public funding. It is now held as self-evident that secular values are broad, wide, inclusive - everything that is humane - while Catholic values are narrow and sectarian. This is a diabolical disorientation engineered by the father of lies himself. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but powers and principalities who are far more intelligent than we are. Much of the main-stream media reports on the basis of this disorientation.
Southern patriots in Baltimore fought such people and opposed them politically. The anti-Catholic folks were led by the Know-Nothings (appropriately named). They were hated in the South. President Davis spoke against this tendency in the Northern fanatics in his speech in 1862 to the MS legislature.

Americans who have critical thinking skills should consider ignoring mainstream media if they wish to hear truth. If they wish to be entertained regardless of content validity then it doesn´t matter what the media says.
The mainstream American Protestants may have lost their religion, but they didn't lose their Anti-Catholic bigotry and hatred.
Steve, I was raised Protestant and am not a Catholic but certainly am not anti-Catholic or bigoted or hateful against the Catholic Church. I don't think your blanket statement is entirely accurate.
Sir Knight, and most of those "enlightenment" anti-catholics are Jews, or under their control to do their bidding. Let's face it, even before protestantism came along, the Jews were the greatest haters of the church. Pete Frey
Okay Pete, I allowed that comment to post so I could respond. Let me first say that I take issue with that statement. Here is why. While we know that modern rabbinical Judaism is by nature an anti-Christian religion, it is no different in that sense than Islam, Christian Science, Scientology, or Jehovah's Witness. Arianism was an anti-Catholic Gnostic sect, as we're a dozen others.
I take issue with the notion that Jews control the media on a wide scale, namely because the mainstream media is no friend of Israel nor Orthodox Judaism for that matter. Granted, there are many "Jews" in the media, but then, there are many "Catholics" as well, notwithstanding that many of those are "Jews" and "Catholics" in name only, as few of them even believe in God, let alone practice their religions.
The truth is many Jews oppose the mainstream media, and many Jews actually support the Church (even if it is just moral support), and stil there are some who would fight and die for a Catholic's right to worship God as he sees fit. I know them. I've worked with them. I have even married into a family that has some of them.
It's important Pete, that we don't paint with such broad strokes. That's how people get hurt, especially those who are undeserving.
TCK, I hate to disagree with you, but I believe the picture you paint of Jews is done with a broad brush. Let me explain.
You start out by admitting that rabbical Judaism is Anti-Christian, but it's no different in that sense than the JW's and other Anti-Christian sects. As far as refusing to acknowledge that Jesus is Christ come in the flesh, you are correct. But I ask, where did these Anti-Christ heresies come from? According to Pius V, "We know that this perverse people has always been the cause and seedbag of almost all the heresies". That is what he said in his bull Hebraeorum Gens. Rabbi Louis Newman basically says the same thing in his book "Jewish Influence On Christian Reform Movements". So according to a sainted pope and a renowed rabbi, Judaism has had a malignant influence on the church since day one.
The Jews don't "control the media on a wide scale". The last time I looked all the major tv and radio networks, newspapers, and movie studios were owned or controled by Jews. Your explaination that they are Jews in name only doesn't hold water for me. Jesus basically said the Pharisees of his day were Jews in name only too. Their descendants would become the rabbical, talmudic, 'torah true' orthodox Jews that many deceived Christians consider 'Godly'. So it doesn't matter to me whither the majority of the Jews are your so-called secular Jews or your so-called torah true Jews, they are Anti-Christian as a group. As for the Catholics in the media, they're just 'shabbat goi's' who happily kiss the butt of the establishment that runs the media to keep their jobs.
Perhaps the Jews you know in your limited geographical area morally support the church, and are against the mass media, but the Christian faith is very strong in the Ozarks, so it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to manifest Anti-Christianism. So I would as far as your friends and in-laws go 'trust but verify'.
Sir Knight,
This might be a bit of the point of any of your posts, but since we seem to be on conspiracies... I was wondering what you thought of the pedophile rings that supposedly exist among high-ups in Washington and Hollywood. Do you think that stuff like this actually goes on?
Supposedly the FBI and CIA like to cover up some missing child stories for no apparent reason. Seems strange.
I have no doubt that such pedophile rings exist. Pedophilia permeates all of Western society right now. It is a sign of the times. That powerful people in Washington and Hollywood might run organised rings of child molestation and cover-up would be of no surprise to me at all in this day and age.
The Church, regardless of her sinners (like me) and her reprobates (like those who are baptized but hate God or love themselves over God) will always live. Yes, in spite of the media attacks against her and the hatred we feel in our own weak flesh because we love her, she (this community that loves God over the fallen world no matter what) will live ETERNALLY!
I wonder just how many of those who spread this hatred against God's Church have read that Psalm that mentions that God sits in heaven on His throne and laughs? Presumably it is directed at those who hate Him and work against Him AND those, like me, who love Him and fumble and bumble around this place as we try to please Him in spite of our many sins.
All praise to the Infinitely Good Being of this incomparably beautiful Church!
PalmettoPatriot, you are right. There are many non-Catholic Christians of good will who have joined us in the past, and are joining us today, to fight this common evil.
Furthermore, even though I live in an area where anti-Catholicism is widespread, I am daily comforted by Protestants who are not anti-Catholic, and refer to me as their "Catholic brother in Christ." These men are Baptists and "Assemblies of God" (Pentecostals).
As I said above to Pete. We must not paint with broad strokes.
Palmetto, my comment about 'mainstream Protestants' was not aimed at those who have held on to some form of Christian belief. I was refering to those Protestant churches that have rejected most or all of the Christian truth and faith they once had. In other words, the liberal churches. It is the mainstream Protestants, along with the infidels within the Catholic Church, who are trying to force us to accept the healthcare mandate. I have no problems with Protestants who are fighting with us on the moral issues that concern both of us. I do have a problem with 'conservative Protestants' who's creeds, like the 'orthodox Jews' teach hatred of the Catholic faith. They should have their feet held to the fire until they renounce their institutionalized hatred of the Catholic faith. I just don't feel very comfortable working with sch folks when they believe my pope is 'very Anti-Christ'.
I am a Catholic, a strong advocate of the Tridentine aka (extraordinary form), theologically and socially very right of the political spectrum, and possibly a contradition in terms, in that ,I support and ardently, care for and respect Talmud-Torah Judaism in every manifest form. I am sick and tired of the medieval anti-semitism still crawling amoung Orthodox Catholics today and by the hypocrits in the secular and protestant mainstream. Fact--If not for the Jews in particular and Hebrews in general, there would be NO Christianity in any form. Just a reminder of many biblical quotes, Jesus said, I came NOT to change one dot or tittle of the Law (The law of Moses in Torah) and his sermons are rift with the love of Juda and the Hebrew people, It's time to grow up, be Catholics and fight the frothing secular bigots represented in the revisionist media of the 21st century and it's cohorts of political bed partners. Pacem--Shalom
